Before you start
You need a support desk for your team, and no Essential Support workspace exists yet. You create one yourself, self-serve, at app.essential.support — no credit card and no password to set up. You pick a name and an address, confirm your email, and your workspace is live within a couple of minutes.
Create your workspace
- Go to https://app.essential.support. This is the sign-up address, separate from any workspace — at this point no workspace exists yet, so there is nothing to sign in to.
- In the Workspace name field, enter a display name for your help desk (up to 120 characters), for example “Acme Support”. This name is shown to customers and inside the console; it is separate from the web address you choose next.
- In the Subdomain field, type the address you want your workspace to live at. Only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens are accepted — anything else is silently stripped as you type. About half a second after you stop typing, Essential Support checks availability live and shows one of three states directly under the field: “Checking availability…” while it looks; a green checkmark reading “yourslug.essential.support is available” once confirmed; or a red message explaining why it is unavailable (already taken, reserved, contains a blocked word, or badly formatted). The Create workspace button stays disabled until the subdomain checks out.
- In the Your email field, enter the address you want to sign in with. This becomes your workspace’s owner account, so use one you can access immediately — the next step depends on a link sent here.
- In the Your name field, enter your name (up to 120 characters). It is required; leaving it blank and submitting shows “Enter your name.” under the field.
- If a security-check widget appears below the name field, it normally passes automatically in the background. It only becomes interactive — asking you to complete a visible challenge — if the check cannot verify you invisibly; complete it before continuing.
- Check the box labeled “I accept the Terms of Service and Data Processing Addendum” — both are linked inline if you want to review them first. Submitting without checking it shows “Please accept the Terms of Service and Data Processing Addendum to continue.”
- Click Create workspace. The button reads “Sending…” and disables itself while your request is processed.
- The form is replaced by a “Check your email” confirmation naming the address you entered. Essential Support has sent a one-time confirmation link there — nothing about your workspace is created yet. Continue with “Confirm your workspace and sign in for the first time” below.
Edge cases
- Any rejected field — a taken or invalid subdomain, a missing name, an unaccepted checkbox, a failed security check — returns you to the form with that specific error and sends nothing until you fix it and submit again.
- If two people race for the same subdomain, the live check can briefly show it as available; if it is claimed in the moment between your check and your confirmation click, you will be told at confirmation time and asked to start over with a different subdomain.
- If you mistype your email address, no error appears at this step, since Essential Support cannot tell a typo from a real address — recheck what you entered and use Start over on the confirmation screen to re-submit with the correct one.
- The confirmation link expires within a day and works only once — if you do not act on it in time, you will need to fill out the form again.
